Societatea Nationala Nuclearelectrica S.A., stock exchange symbol SNN, is a stock company administered in a unitary system. SNN is the only nuclear energy producer in Romania. The company owns and operates two subsidiaries: Cernavoda NPP which operates the two CANDU nuclear units, each with an installed capacity of 700 MW and Pitesti Fuel Manufacturing Plant which manufactures the fuel bundles. SNN owns EnergoNuclear, the vehicle company for the development of Cernavoda NPP Units 3 and 4 Project and the company signed in March 2021 a sale-purchase agreement of certain assets within the uranium concentrate processing line of the National Uranium Company Feldioara branch, the purpose being the assurance of an integrated fuel cycle for the competitive advantage of SNN. SNN covers approximately 18% of the national consumption needs and avoids the release of 10.000.000 million tons of CO2/year. AS nuclear energy is clean energy, SNN will play an essential role in the energy transition process and decarbonization through its investment projects, Refurbishment of Unit 1 and Cernavoda NPP Units 3 and 4 Project, doubling its capacity after 2031. As well, SNN is currently involved in assessing small modular reactors (SMR) sites as an innovative approach to tackle the needs of long-term decarbonization.
