IN-PERSON 9th Washington Energy Summit 2024 Distinguished Confirmed Speakers

With more than 35 years knowledge as an EHS professional in the oil and gas industry, Mr. Espenan brings a wealth of experience to his role with Diversified as Senior Vice President of Environmental, Health, Safety and Regulatory.  Prior to Diversified, Paul has held various EHS positions at Halliburton, Burlington Resources, ConocoPhillips, and LINN Energy, also serving as a consultant.  In his role at Diversified, Paul has spearheaded emission quantification, reporting, and reduction achieving several industry firsts.  Under Paul’s leadership, Diversified has established a strategy and implementation plan to significantly reduce methane and GHG emissions intensity, achieving reductions in methane intensity of 25%. Diversified recently won a “Best ESG Report of the Year” from ESG Awards 2023.  Diversified has also received notification from the United Nations Environment Program that it has achieved the Gold Standard Pathway for the second consecutive year under the OGMP 2.0 framework.

Paul, a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), received a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Health at Louisiana State University and a Master of Science degree in Environmental Science at the University of Texas at Dallas.
